Does the Facebook conversion tracking pixel really work?

Imagine you have a product that you want to sell to a specific group of people (we’ll use real estate investors for this example).

Using Facebook’s highly targeted demographics, behaviors, interests, and other super complicated psycho analytics, you are able to advertise to a very specific audience of 100,000 people in the U.S. who are between the ages of 35-50, like real estate investing, are males, like the book ‘Rich Dad Poor Dad’, watch ‘Flip This House’ and have a net worth over $1,000,000.

To be super brief, a conversion pixel is simply a little bit of code Facebook gives you that you can then put on a website to track lots of different things…

Here’s what Facebook has to say about conversion tracking pixels…

Conversion tracking helps businesses measure the return on investment of their Facebook Ads by reporting on the actions people take after your ads are served. Advertisers can create pixels that track conversions, add them to the pages of their website where the conversions will happen, and then track these conversions back to ads they are running on Facebook.

Conversion tracking also helps businesses leverage optimized cost per impressions (oCPM) to show ads to people who are more likely to convert off Facebook.

Essentially, Facebook will track what people do after they click on the link to your ad… and, based on that data, show your ads to people who are most likely to convert!
