3 Ways You Can Use Facebook Lead Ads To Win More Leads

facebook lead ad tips

Facebook lead ads are finally here after months of testing!

If you were never great at creating landing pages or have always had issues generating leads online, then Facebook lead ads aims to solve these issues. In this article, I’ll give you an overview on how Facebook lead ads work, how you should use them to capture leads, and what devices and third-party platforms they work with.

How Do Facebook Lead Ads Work?

Facebook Lead ads work in almost the exact same way as Twitter’s Lead Generation card.

They allow prospects to sign-up to your newsletter, submit their details or get a copy of your lead magnet via email.

They don’t require the prospect to type in any data, as their details are automatically populated from their Facebook account, and opt-in by tapping their screen twice.

Tapping their screen? Yes, Facebook lead ads can only target users on a mobile or tablet device. As of right now, you cannot serve them to desktop users although that feature is said to be coming in the future.

Facebook lead ads can collect the following information from prospects:

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Home address
  • Telephone number
  • Zip code
  • City
  • State
  • Country
  • Company name
  • Job title

You will be required to create a privacy policy that states what you intend to do with their personal data, which will be embedded in your ad for all to read.

3 Ways To Use Lead Ads on Facebook

I’m not expecting lead ads to be cheap on Facebook, as they are a fantastic way to generate leads and, therefore, everybody will be using it. This means more competition which is going to lead to higher costs.

To get the best possible return using lead ads you’ll have to provide prospects with a lot of value in exchange for their personal information. Nobody hands over their personal data online without getting something for it in exchange.

Unless you’re a major authority in your industry, simply asking prospects to join your email list will be a tough and expensive sell.

I highly recommend using lead ads on Facebook with the following:

  1. Special offers – If your business regularly runs special promotions or uses discounts codes, run a leads ad where you email prospects a voucher code if they submit their details.  Even if they don’t plan on buying anything, most will sign-up because the fear of not getting a coupon later if you ad doesn’t appear again on their newsfeed.
  2. High value lead magnet – with the right targeting, aligning lead ads with lead magnets or free consultations is going to be another way to maximize your opt-in rates.
  3. Running a sweepstakes – Everybody loves the chance to win high value prizes for free. Running a social media competition where users must submit their email address for a chance to win a prize is another useful method to attract leads.

Ensure the product you giveaway is relevant to your industry. For example, if I ran a lead ads giving away a Samsung Galaxy 6, I would receive too many generic opt-ins who have no interest in paid search marketing. I’d be better off giving away a $50 AdWords voucher or a year’s subscription to Mailchimp.

Summary Of Facebook Lead Ads

Facebook lead ads is only compatible with major CRM systems. At this moment in time it does not work out-the-box with tools like Mailchimp or AWeber. However, you can export all your opt-ins via CSV file and then upload them to your email provider.

Mobile traffic has always been harder to convert and it will be interesting to see if lead ads finally solves this problem.

Bear in mind that lead ads do not redirect Facebook traffic to your website, they allow users to submit their information and carry on browsing through their newsfeed. If your lead generation campaigns sometimes result in instant conversions, you should keep this in mind when setting up lead ads.
