Facebook Power Editor Updates In 2015

During the past few months, Facebook have made several changes to the Power Editor after listening to user feedback.

I know a lot of people prefer the Ads Manager over the Power Editor because it’s much easier to use and you can setup ads in minutes, but the Power Editor offers greater ad types and targeting options which cannot be found on the Ads Manager.

In today’s article, I’m going go over all the changes made to the Power Editor this year.

Dashboard navigation made easy

The first biggest change you’ll come across is that it’s now easier to find your campaigns, ad sets and adverts. There’s a left side bar that allows you to quickly find your campaigns and their current status:

1

Filtering between campaigns has now become easier as the Power Editor has added a filter option:

2

What’s more, using the search bar (next to filters) you can segment your campaigns by specific keywords.

Tools tab

Just like in the Adverts Manager, the Tools tab now allows you to view your audiences, pixels, custom conversions, includes billing, reporting and group and account settings:

3

Renaming campaigns, ad sets and ads

When you’re running a number of campaigns it can start to get troublesome managing them all and knowing which ad is part of which campaign. With the new changes you can easily rename one or multiple campaigns, ad sets or ads effortlessly.

To rename any, simply click the checkbox on the campaign, ad set or ad unit you want to rename, and click the Edit button:

4

If you select two or more campaigns, ad sets or ads, you’ll be able to rename them all at once using mixed values. Once you’ve made your changes, click the Upload Changes to save your changes.

Splitting audiences

One of the bigger changes in the Power Editor this year was the ability to split an audience to test ads. To split an audience, head to Ad Sets and then in the menu bar click on the Split Audience button:

5

A new form will appear where you’ll be shown your original audience and you’ll have the option to create a new ad set and be able to change the age and gender of that audience:

6

To add a new audience, click on the Add an advert set and then edit the Age Range and Gender of the new audience you want to split. You’ll have the option to create a new budget or to use the current one, once you’ve made your changes hit the Create Adverts Set button:

7

You can create more than one new audience to split.

Serving adverts on Instagram

The newest change to the Power Editor is the ability to serve adverts on Instagram. You can serve adverts on Instagram using any of the following objectives:

  • Page Post Engagement
  • Clicks to Website
  • Website Conversions
  • Mobile App Installs
  • Mobile App Engagement
  • Video Views

Website conversions and mobile app engagement objectives have just been rolled out and may not be in your Power Editor account just yet.

To serve adverts on Instagram, head to anyone of your ad sets and scroll down to placement where you’ll see the option to serve your advert on your Instagram page:

8

You will need to link your Instagram account to your Business Manager to serve ads on Instagram.

I can’t see some of these options, what’s wrong?

If you cannot see all the new changes mentioned above, click on the Help button on the right hand side of the Power Editor and press Reset Power Editor. If after resetting you still cannot see all the new improvements, Facebook has stated this is a gradual rollout and it will take time before it’s rolled out on all new accounts.

What do you think about the new Facebook Power Editor? Has it made your life easier?
