Should You Replace Ad Clicks With Phone Calls On Google AdWords?

Step By Step Guide On How To Get Phone Calls on Google AdWords..,

Clicks to your ads are awesome, but there’s still a long way for prospects to go before they make the desired action. As they surf through your website, they may receive a phone call, get distracted or have to get back to work stopping them from doing what they intended.

But what if you replaced that click to your website with a phone call to a sales rep? A one-on-one interaction is almost always going to lead to a higher rate of conversion than redirecting a prospect to your website and letting them figure everything out for themselves.

In this article, I’ll show you how to get phone calls on Google AdWords by setting up call-only campaigns using Google AdWords.

Who should use call-only campaigns?

If you run a business with a physical shop front, offer services or manage a sales hotline, then call-only campaigns should certainly be part of your PPC strategy. Google estimates that 70% of all mobile searchers end up calling a business from their search results, and earlier this year introduced call-only campaigns which allows text-based ads to include a one-click call-to-action.

At this point, if you don’t already have an existing campaign setup on AdWords, you will need to create one to add your call extension to. An big red button labelled + Extension will appear after you select the call extensions tab, click the red button and select the campaign you would like to add your call extension to:

You will have the option to search for numbers you’ve already added or add a new one. Since this is your first call tracking campaign select + New phone number:

Adding Your Phone Number

When adding your phone number you will have several options to choose from. The most important one is whether you want to use Google forwarding. This option allows Google to better track your calls and provide you with clear metrics on how your campaigns performed.

You can preference your extension to be shown on mobiles (advised), select a start and end date for your extension to be shown, and schedule your call extension only to be visible during your business hours:

6

Click save once you’ve selected your options and select save again to add your call extension to your campaign. It will take Google AdWords a few minutes before they approve your call extension.

Summary Of Getting Phone Calls On Google AdWords

Adding call extensions to your Google ads typically increases click-through by around 8%. If you’re a business who receives a lot of sales or inquiries from calls, replacing your clicks for calls will generate new business.

I highly recommend you always display a landline number over your cell phone. Not only are they cheaper to call, but prospects are more likely to call a landline because speaking to the receptionist is less intimidating than the owner who may be busy working.

At this moment in time, call-only campaigns are only served through the Google Search Network.
